Robert Henry Charles (1855-1931) was an Irish theologian, biblical scholar, and translator whose work on apocryphal and pseudepigraphal texts helped shape modern study of early Jewish and Christian literature. Educated at Trinity College Dublin and Oxford, Charles produced influential translations and critical editions of texts that had previously been less accessible to English-language readers.His work on The Book of Jubilees, along with his editions of other apocryphal writings, contributed to the development of scholarly approaches to ancient religious texts, emphasizing historical context, manuscript tradition, and textual analysis. His translations remain widely used and continue to inform study in biblical and historical scholarship.
