Inhaltsangabe

Jacques Tardi’s graphic novel Goddamn This War! is split into six chronological chapters, one for each year of WWI, drawn in a pen-ink-and-watercolor technique, with the bold colors of the early chapters fading into a grimy near-monochrome as the war drags on. It is told, with insight, dark wit and despair, as a first-person reminiscence/narration by an unnamed soldier.

Über diesen Titel

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Tardi is a pioneering, internationally award-winning European cartoonist. His Adele Blanc-Sec series was adapted into a feature by Luc Besson, and the animated film April and the Extraordinary World was inspired by his cartooning. He lives in Paris with his wife, the singer Dominique Grange, and their cats.

Von der hinteren Coverseite

A perfect companion piece to Tardi's It Was the War of the Trenches, Goddamn This War! is a new, full-color graphic novel-length exploration of World War I that is broken down in a more chronological, historical way than its double Eisner Award-winning precursor (although it shares Trenches' sense of outrage, gallows humor, and scrupulous historical exactitude) compounded by an extensive historical text section in the back, stuffed with spectacular, fascinating, and horrific period photographs.
