One beautiful summer day, the author suffered a catastrophic, almost certainly fatal, heart attack. Though faced with little chance of survival, exceptional medical care and outstanding spiritual and family support kept him alive long enough to get on the transplant list for a new heart. Even so, he was given only days to live. This is the story of the incredible people who kept him alive and hopeful, and of the miracle that brought him the new heart he had to have. The author tells his inspiring story of survival with gratitude, humor, and unique insight, from the lows of multiple organ failures and near death, to the highs of going home to his family and a normal, happy life. He sees his nightmare as a big adventure, and here shares the lessons he learned from his brush with death.
