Benjamin W. Bacon (1860-1932) was a key figure in the wave of German-trained scholars that reshaped the American approach to biblical studies in the early twentieth-century. Bacon taught New Testament at Yale (1896-1928) and was one of the earliest American scholars to employ source criticism and accept the existence of Q.
