Inhaltsangabe

Kris Spencer’s Slack Land presents a bounty of felt experiences. From the innocence of childhood to the wisdom of adulthood, we feel each encounter’s resonance, its lasting impact on the poet. This tender collection unpacks memory, and questions what has been witnessed and learnt about a landscapes emotional hold, a family’s gentle shifts, the tree that will ‘keep our time in its rings.’

—Rebecca Goss , poet, Her Birth (2013), Girl (2019) and Latch (2023)

We don’t talk about love anymore, but it is everywhere. In this collection, you’ll find a love letter to the world, to family, to memory — and to all the moments we often overlook. These poems, infused with tenderness, will draw you into an intimate examination of childhood, art, the passing of time, and the beauty in simply noticing. Everything we need is here. Through vibrant depictions of colour — the shifting of dunes, and the ghosts of fairytales — the collection invites you to look deeply — into fields and towns, and the ever-present sea. All of it, together, like music.

—Annick Yerem, poet, Editor-in-Chief of Sídhe Press
