The book explores his thinking about, and finally rejection of Christian belief. The book is not aggressive, understands belief, but argues that belief in religion lacks adequate grounds. So the status of the Bible is examined, as are aspects of Christian doctrine, with frequent references to Biblical material. It is not a book for those who don't wish to think about such matters, not an attack on believers, but invites to an honest audit of reasons for one's faith. Mother's knee or the faith of one's fathers may not have invited those whose adherence to faith into wider issues than one's familiar territory allowed!
