A Popular Dark-Humor Apocalypse Inspired By True Events

Coastal Wilmington, North Carolina, stands in the crosshairs. A bad flu spreads. The city is shutting down. Just as inexplicable violence surges.

In 2012, amid a designer-drug outbreak, Americans feared the “infected alive” zombie had become real. It’s happening again. Authorities blame the latest street drug, as they successfully did before. Except the behavior appears contagious. And it’s even erupting in pets.

For former Staff Sergeant Peter Sullivan, this could be good. War is what he does best. Life is what he sucks at. But for PhD candidate Phebe Marcelino, it’s a descent into kill-or-be-killed.

Veterans of the U.S. Army’s 75th Ranger Regiment and the U.S. Marine Corps—turned first responders—band together. Combat unlike anything they’ve seen. Their own military has never tried to kill them before.

Phebe has only her intelligence and survival instinct. You never know what you’re made of until tested.

Rooted in real-world drug phenomena and medical science, this grounded sci-fi thriller redefines the genre—because it could happen. It may have already begun. No undead included.

ZOMBIE: The love child of “Contagion” and “Black Hawk Down” meets “28 Days Later” at a Monty Python festival.

“Great characters and believable action. Speaking as a cynical old soldier and nitpicking fool, all I can say about this book is it rocks hard, and I could not wait to see the sequel. Most of these types of books are boring and derivative—not this one.”—Amazon reviewer "The Old Soldier" Michael L.

“This one goes in the reread pile! Love this book. It puts a new spin on zombie fiction, and quite frankly, scared the crap out of me, since out of all the zombie books I’ve read, this one seems like it could really happen! The storyline, humor, and action helped keep me reading instead of heading out to buy a bunker.”—Amazon reviewer Carolyn.
