Inhaltsangabe

The book is a collection of twenty-three short stories that chronicle various aspects of military service during a by-gone era that was marked by war and unrest. Candidly presented, the work authoritatively exposes rarely explored facets of military duty and its attending affairs without pretense or sentimentality. The stories are authentically framed in a wide expanse of global settings featuring duty stations at bland stateside garrisons, serene foreign locales, and harsh overseas outposts, occasionally veering into sparse domestic venues. The varied cast of characters; military, civilian and foreign are engaged in diverse and compelling personal situations which captivate as well as inform. Voiced in terse and vivid prose, the author, a 30-year veteran of the United States Army, strays from the beaten path of sterile military fiction and has produced an engrossing array of episodes from distinctive sources of unique vintage.
