Cathy Passmore meets Patrick Faltynski in the second grade of their community’s Catholic school. They become close friends and confidantes as they navigate growing up. Then Patrick develops headaches and a sensitivity to sunlight. He is diagnosed with a rare form of brain cancer and dies at fourteen years old leaving Cathy to grieve.
