Inhaltsangabe

Absolute Surrender: A Deeply Spiritual Call to Yield Fully to the Will and Power of God Andrew Murray (1828-1917) was a South African pastor, teacher, and prolific devotional writer whose works have inspired generations of Christians toward deeper faith and consecration. Born in Graaff-Reinet in the Cape Colony, Murray was educated in Scotland and the Netherlands before returning to South Africa to serve as a missionary and minister. A leader in the Dutch Reformed Church, he became widely known for his passionate preaching and his writings on prayer, humility, and the Holy Spirit. Murray authored more than 200 books and tracts, many of which remain enduring classics in Christian devotional literature. Absolute Surrender, first published in the late 19th century, is a powerful series of messages urging believers to yield every part of their lives to God without reservation. With clarity and compassion, Murray explains that true spiritual victory and joy come not through human effort, but through a heart fully surrendered to Christ's will. Drawing on Scripture and personal insight, he offers encouragement to live a life of humility, obedience, and trust in God's transforming grace. Revered for its simplicity and depth, Absolute Surrender continues to challenge and uplift readers seeking a closer walk with God.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Andrew Murray (1828-1917) was a South African pastor, missionary leader, devotional writer, and one of the most widely read Christian authors of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Born into a Scottish Dutch Reformed family in South Africa and educated in Scotland and the Netherlands, Murray spent his long ministry preaching, teaching, writing, and encouraging a deeper life of prayer, holiness, surrender, and practical union with Christ. His work is rooted in Protestant evangelical devotion, but its appeal has reached across denominational lines because of its directness, spiritual seriousness, and steady focus on the inner life of the believer.Murray's books remain important in Christian devotional literature because they combine biblical teaching with pastoral urgency. Works such as Absolute Surrender, Abide in Christ, Humility, With Christ in the School of Prayer, and The Master's Indwelling continue to serve readers seeking Christian spiritual growth, prayer, consecration, sanctification, and a disciplined life of faith. His writing is marked by simplicity without shallowness: Murray returns again and again to surrender, dependence on Christ, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the transformation of ordinary Christian life through obedience and abiding communion with God.
