The poem "Thanks" ends:

Thanks for seeing me as the sun rise

And thanks for being directly at my side

Thanks for helping in the life I am to enjoy

Thanks for helping me cross the roadblocks used as a decoy

You see, I lost my way and wasn't sure what to do

And again, thanks for your coming along to see me through

Alim M. Bey grew up in Maryland. As a young man, he enlisted in the Army and then became a police officer. He is now retired and is the author of four books.

Alim M. Bey, A.K.A. Albert E. Sewell, is an African-descendant, native-born American from Maryland who presently resides in North Carolina. He is a talented writer who has been blessed with the gift of expression through poetry. This diverse collection of poems represents experiences and feelings he had had throughout his life. Though he says his thoughts are quite ordinary, his work is thoroughly unique and thought-provoking.
