Shadow Sword starts with Alex (the protagonist) walking home after getting off the bus and finding a sword in the ground he grabs it and that's when the weird starts. First he thinks it's a dream then after fighting a few villains giving his friends Jace (who is sure to give everyone laughs because he is just funny) , Cole & Amy powers and saving some magic rocks he thinks it's something in between. Then near the end of the book he starts thinking it might be real….and then dies and wakes up on the bus home and he does it all again but this time he makes one change so he doesn't die.
