Each book focuses on a specific cemetery and is accompanied by appropriate illustrations. Every effort has been made to make each man's story interesting to the reader and unique in some way. Each book in the series contains a high level of human interest material as well as historically significant details. The sketches incorporate local history, genealogical information, Civil War history and Vermont history. The individual veteran's stories will enlighten and inform the general reader. Local families, friends and neighbors will find facts out about their ancestor they may not have known before. For Civil War buffs, the information included will provide them with new and fresh insights into the lives of the men who took to the fields of war to defend their country as they perceived it. The genealogical details woven into the men's biographies will give added understanding to their descendants. The end notes will offer a road map to anyone interested in following the trail of my resources used to compile the articles. And for those who wish to learn more about the history of the Green Mountain state, there are ample details about life in Vermont before, during and after the American Civil War.
