Inhaltsangabe

Ten-year-old Lucy Spratt doesn’t believe in magic or fairy tales or any such nonsense. But, when she is sent to spend the summer holidays with two eccentric aunts in the village of Wickham, a series of strange events make her begin to question her beliefs.

Lucy’s arrival alerts the WI (also known as the Witchfinder’s Institute and not to be confused too often, unless convenient, with the Women’s Institute). The WI have been monitoring magical energy for centuries and are determined to rid the country of the vile witch vermin once and for all.

Unaware of the danger she’s in, and with new friends by her side, Lucy sets out to find answers to questions like: Why does no one talk about her mother? Why do the doors, furniture and even rooms keep moving in the house? And how come she can make herself disappear?

Lucy is determined to uncover the secrets about her family and the destiny they must fulfil. The WI is determined to stop her.
