Terminology used during the game is identified along with full definition of all terms in common use. hands are dealt with each player randomly receiving 13 cards. The dealer starts the bidding, progressing clockwise. Bidding progresses until all players have passed. Each player will pass in order. The bidding progresses seeking to identify the bidder's values. Once each player has passed once in order, the auction is completed. The last pass that was made defines the contract. The play is controlled by the partnership that made the last non-passing bid. The player that first bid the suit that became the contract plays the hand. That player is termed the declarer. the declarer's partner is termed the dummy. Once the player to the left of declarer makes the initial lead, dummy places all his cards face up. Dummy does nothing after facing up his hand except what declarer directs him to do. All play is done in clockwise order, starting from the lead. On the first lead, the player ahead of dummy has the lead. From that point, the player that takes the prior trick will lead the next trick. All actions are defined according to the laws of bridge. The game is to proceed according to these laws. When any party deviates from these laws, the director will seek to restore equity.
