When you open the door to a library, a world of opportunity awaits. No one believed this more than Andrew Carnegie. Carnegie''s legacy continues to this day. He set up the Carnegie Hero Fund Trust UK and the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust. The Carnegie Medal is a literary award that was established to celebrate the centenary of his birth. He created the Carnegie Foundation for the purpose of establishing and maintaining in perpetuity a ''Temple of Peace'': the stunning Peace Palace in The Hague today houses institutions including the International Court of Justice and the Peace Palace Library.

Über die Autorinnen und Autoren
Andrew Larsen loves to walk, and it was on one of his walks that he passed an old library plaque explaining how the library had been built. He decided to investigate, and was inspired to share the story of Scotland born Andrew Carnegie with young readers. Andrew is a successful author of books for young children. He lives in Toronto, Canada.
Katty Maurey's work has been nominated for several major awards. Born in Paris, she now makes her home in Montreal.
