Emily Ballou was born in Wisconsin and moved to Sydney in 1991 at the age of twenty-two. She lives in the Blue Mountains and is a poet and screenwriter. Her first novel, Father Lands was published in 2002 to some acclaim. This is her first picture book. Stephen Michael King has been shortlisted several times for a Children’s Book Council Book of the Year Award and won both the 2002 YABBA and KOALA children’s choice awards for Pocket Dogs. His first picture book, The Man Who Loved Boxes, was the winner of the inaugural Family Award and was selected for Pick of the List (US).
