Inhaltsangabe

Help your clients solve their problems and teach new skills. Many clients approach a professional, pastoral or peer counselor, mentor, life coach, social worker, personal support worker, or other type of helper because they're unable to resolve an important problem on their own. Such clients don't need psychotherapy because the issue isn't about a psychological trauma, unresolved childhood needs, or repetitive feelings of despair, fear, or anger triggered by earlier events in the client's life. They just need help solving a present day problem. This book presents an effective and practical problem-solving approach to counseling, which you can use to help your clients solve their problems and learn how to be more effective when they encounter future difficulties. The "GET STOKED & ACT" counseling model follows an organized sequence of steps you would use to help your client to clarify the the problem(s) he or she is dealing with, then take your client through an organized problem-solving sequence, teaching the steps and effective solution finding skills as you go.
