Sharon dedicó su carrera a las escuelas públicas de Corpus Christi, Texas, desde 1971 hasta 2009, principalmente con niños de Educación Infantil hasta sexto curso. Aunque no se crió en las montañas, éstas la llamaban, y allí llegó en cuanto pudo, retirándose a la vertiente occidental de las Montañas Rocosas en Colorado, 14 años después, dejó los vibrantes álamos temblones de las montañas por los majestuosos robles del centro de Texas. Sobrevivir a la verdad es su primera novela.
