Críticas:
Meet Poppy Pickle, a little girl with a BIG imagination. Even the most mundane task, such as tidying her room, becomes a crazy adventure with her mad cap ideas and wonderfully imaginative creations. Poppy conjures up the most extraordinary characters with her weird and wild imagination, as they join her one by one in her room. With Poppy's far flung ideas and creative mind, she can bring her dreams to life with a "pop!" from a monumental woolly mammoth to a rather peckish croc. And not forgetting the only puce flying pig we've ever seen, complete with pink wings! We just adore Emma Yarlett's characterisation and Poppy is a new favourite. Her big, wide eyes and shock of red hair make for a colourful female lead. Yarlett's choice of colour palette and the use of hand lettering in her books is utterly sublime. As is the way she depicts Poppy's imagination in a culmination of vibrant colour, weird and wonderful shapes and 'pops!' But what will Poppy's vivid imagination lead to? It all seems to be going well, that is until the mammoth puts his foot through the floor and the peckish crocodile takes a fancy to a tasty Poppy snack. Watch out for the giant talking hot dog and the philosophical beaver, not to mention the pesky crocabee and the menacing T-Rabbit. Will Poppy's imagination get her into a pickle? Go and find out for yourself. Poppy Pickle is published in just three days time by Templar Publishing and we can't recommend it highly enough. -- Sarah Yewman * Picture Books Blogger * Poppy Pickle's imagination tends to get her into trouble with her parents. But no more so than when her imaginations begin to come to life. There's bags of humour both in the words and the illustrations for little ones to revel in here. -- Hannah Beckerman * The Huffington Post * What an extravaganza of colour and imagination! Poppy Pickle has bags of energy and an amazing imagination, so amazing that the things she imagines start to come to life. Instead of cleaning her room, Poppy Pickle starts to daydream and as each creature she imagines comes to life, her rooms starts to fill with this fabulous array of creatures. Unfortunately, though, not all of them are as friendly as Poppy would have liked and, when the crocodile tries to eat her, she realises it is time that they all left - but how? There is one spread that shows all the fun things that Poppy has dreamed up, from a castle made of cake to never-ending pocket money, which is bound to help encourage children to create their own list of imagined things. But as you turn the page, you find all the other kinds of things you might find in your imagination - and children could list the things that sometimes worry them. But this story really is a celebration of children's imagination and would be an excellent story to share before they start writing their own. -- Reading Zone * Reading Zone * I can't believe this story, it's crazy. Poppy is very special and she has cats like me. But she has three cats and I've got two and one of her cats can fly. I really like the chocolate tree she imagines and I would like one too. I wish I had an imagination. Poppy is nice and she's got a funny face. My favourite bit was the end 'cos the mum and dad were so frightened and the woolly mammoth was so crazy. It was funny because her mum and dad were not nice when they said she was naughty and that she should clean her room. Safina, 4, from Blackpool -- The Big Issue North * http://www.bigissuenorth.com/2015/07/summer-shelved/13273 * Yarlett's Poppy Pickle is full of twists and delightful chaos, and rewards readers with a giggle inducing ending. * My Book Corner * As always, Emma delivers with her brilliantly zany and colourful illustrations. The story is fun and you instantly love Poppy's over active imagination. With a lovely surprise ending, children and adults will adore this third picture book exclusively with Templar. * Book Worm Baby * New Emma Yarlett books are always greeted with a huge ripple of excitement here at Read it Daddy towers and when we first heard about 'Poppy Pickle'- a little girl with a HUGE imagination, we couldn't wait to meet her. Charlotte immediately identified and fell in love with Poppy, an extraordinary little girl in a fairly ordinary family with an ordinary mum, ordinary dad and three ordinary (and hugely cute!) cats. ... We knew we'd love this one, after all Charlotte and Poppy are extremely alike. Any books that celebrates the seemingly endless and colourful imagination of a child will always get a huge thumbs up from us, and with Emma's amazing artistic talents and knack for exciting and thoroughly original tales, we just could not resist Poppy Pickle! Charlotte's favourite bit: The giant hot dog telling the three little pigs that he was "once like them" (I think we both laughed out loud at that bit!) Daddy's favourite bit: Emma's imagination is as brilliant as Poppy's. Truly gorgeous illustrations that give Oliver Jeffers a run for his money, brilliant storytelling but best of all a truly inspirational mighty girl hero for little girls like mine to look up to! Awesome. -- Phil May * Read it Daddy! *
Reseña del editor:
Poppy has the most extraordinary imagination. When she is sent upstairs to tidy her room, she just can't help imagining and suddenly . . . her imagination literally comes alive. Soon her room is jam-packed with all kinds of weird and wonderful creatures. There's a problem, though - the mammoth puts his foot through the floor and the hungry crocodile thinks Poppy would make a tasty snack. Poppy needs to get rid of all these creatures FAST - but how?
