Inhaltsangabe

From her discovery of an aristocratic infant abandoned in a village telephone booth, to dark doings amongst Scottish banks and braes, it’s a rollercoaster ride for Miss Seeton in this adventure with a tartan touch.

Grateful parents Lord and Lady Glenclachan sweep Miss S. northward to MacSporran Castle, their ancestral home, where, as her admiring reporter pal Amelita Forby (scenting a story and hot on her trail) puts it, ‘Battling Brolly Finds Corpse Near Crag’ – not to mention tangling with Jacobites and searching for a fabled gold mine.

As usual, the retired art teacher’s inner eye sees to the essence of this heady Highland brew.

Serene amidst every kind of skulduggery, this eccentric English spinster steps in where Scotland Yard stumbles, armed with nothing more than her sketchpad and umbrella!

What people are saying about Miss Seeton:

“Miss Seeton is a hoot! I was torn between laughter and eye rolling with each page turn. The characters are loveable and thoroughly British. This is a perfect specimen of classic British mystery.“

“What a joy Miss Seeton is. Why did I wait so long to read them? Splashy characters, lovely setting, and just plain funny.”

“I've become a Miss Ess addict. Great characters that get better with each book. A must for anyone who loves a good British cozy with a twist, and surprising revelations of what a good brollie can do in a pinch.”

“What a great series. This is one of the best in English light reading mysteries.”

“Miss Seeton is a delightful sendup of the amateur sleuth. If your doctor has prescribed laughter as the best medicine, run and buy the entire series as fast as you can.”

Über die Autorinnen und Autoren

Hamilton Crane is the pseudonym used by Sarah J. Mason when writing for the Miss Seeton series. She has also written detective fiction under her own name, but should not be confused with the Sarah Mason (no middle initial) who writes a rather different kind of book.

After half a century in Hertfordshire (if we ignore four years in Scotland and one in New Zealand), Sarah J. Mason now lives in Somerset―within easy reach of the beautiful city of Wells, and just far enough from Glastonbury to avoid the annual traffic jams.

Heron Carvic (1913-1980) was an actor and writer, most recognisable today for his voice portrayal of the character Gandalf in the first BBC Radio broadcast version of The Hobbit. He started writing the Miss Seeton novels in the 1960s, after using her in a short story. He later recalled that "Miss Seeton upped and demanded a book”.
