In EU consumer law, the rise of Article 47 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights – which guarantees the right to an effective remedy and a fair trial – over the past decade has coincided with a wave of crisis-induced litigation. She is Deputy Director of the Amsterdam Centre for Transformative Private Law (ACT) and Editor of the Dutch Journal of Civil Procedure (Tijdschrift voor Civiele Rechtspleging). After graduating from Leiden University and the University of Oxford, she worked as a litigator for six years. She has authored several publications on consumer law and access to justice and participated in EU-funded projects on judicial cooperation and fundamental rights.
