This book introduces an integrative swimming blueprint for instructors and beginners using games and basic experiences which can be used by many different groups such as toddlers, pre-schoolers, school pupils, handicapped children and teenagers, integrative groups, older people etc.

Aquafun offers a wealth of new games and exercises. The games have been tried and tested for over more than twenty years of activities with handicapped children and teenagers and sports instructor training and in further education for sports instructors.

The book first deals with the importance of swimming, its history and function before the author goes into individual aspects of swimming for beginners, such as getting used to water through the use of games, underwater diving, breathing, jumping in and diving, floating, gliding through the water and elementary movements. Once these skills have been mastered, the author then describes how the first swimming stroke techniques can be worked on.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Lilli Ahrendt was born in 1968, is a doctor of sport science and a diploma physical education teacher. Since 1994 she has been teaching on and dealing with the theme "Baby swimming" at the Sports College in Cologne. Apart from her scientific investigations and congress talks she designs and runs the teacher-training and further education courses in parent-child and pre-natal swimming for the German Swimming Federations and other institutions.
