First Edition. This is from the dustwrapper: "This new study of a key battle of the Civil Wars re-examines one of England's most mysterious battlefields at Edgehill, and it combines the work of three outstanding military historians. Each is an expert in the areas of battlefield interpretation, military equipment and organization, and battle casualties and care. Their unique blend of knowledge gives a fascinating insight into one of the most famous and often misunderstood engagements of the conflict. It also introduces an exciting and innovative approach to understanding the battle and the battlefield. The authors start with a clean slate. They analyse information from original military and civil documents, walk the ground to explore topographical features, and examine rare archaeological finds. In the process they debunk a few English Civil War myths by exposing them to close scrutiny. All three authors have been involved in seventeenth-century military re-enactment ., 'serving' from musketeer to Lord General, so they have first-hand experience of the formations, drills and weapons of the period. This knowledge considerably aids their interpretation of what happened on the Edgehill battlefield three centuries ago". Illustrated with maps, tables, photographs and drawings, in line and in colour. Illustrated by the authors, Richard Ellis and Leslie Prince. 224 pages, 6.25 X 9.5 inches.
