Michael Haag wrote widely on the Egyptian, Classical and Medieval worlds, on the Mediterranean and the Middle East. He was regarded as the world's foremost Durrells scholar. His books include Larry: A Biography of Lawrence Durrell (1912-45), Alexandria: City of Memory, The Durrells of Corfu and The Templars: History and Myth.
