Jonathan Glancey is Architecture and Design Editor of the Guardian. He is a frequent radio and TV broadcaster, and author of Modern World Architecture, The Car, Spitfire and Lost Buildings. He has driven and fired steam locomotives on the main lines of Britain, India, Poland, South Africa, Patagonia and China. He longs for the revival of Britain's railways.
