A former pilot in the French Navy, FrédéricZumbiehlhas since turned to writing. He wrote the scripts of several military adventure series, always insisting on hyper-realism, such as Team Rafale or Unité Félin. He was picked to replace Francis Bergèse at the helm of Buck Danny. Gil Formosabegan working in comics at 18, as Morris's assistant on the Lucky Lukecartoons, before making a name for himself as an illustrator of posters and covers, interspersed with several comic series.

When a Japanese patrol plane is shot down by a mysterious aggressor, the international community immediately suspects the Chinese – the attack took place off the Japanese Senkaku Islands, which China also claims as their own. The incident is extremely serious and could lead to all-out war, and the Pentagon sends the carrier USS Ronald Reagan, with Buck on board, to investigate the attack and attempt to defuse the situation before it gets out of control.
