As a young child, Jei always had a passion for science fiction, fantasy worlds, and games. He lived in Venezuela for most part of his life before moving to the United States in 2003. While in Venezuela, he studied biology sciences at La Universidad de los Andes and he worked as a lab technician designing media tools and maquettes. Upon arriving to the United States, Jei decided to become a designer and CG modeler at San Jose State University. His inspiration was to always find a path where science and art co-exist, balance, and help each other to create tools that are not only attractive and beautiful, but also practical. He currently works as an independent consultant and has clients from industries such as Electronic Arts and Cisco System.
