Grade 5-9-Students will learn a great deal not only about the history of Pakistan and important recent events, but also about the people, including life styles and languages. Unfortunately, the section on circumcision, described as a major cultural event, does not explain what it is. The section on popular culture and leisure activities presents a side of Pakistan not usually seen in mass-media publications. Excellent-quality, full-color photographs and sidebars highlight special information and make this book accessible and appealing. There is much to be learned here about ethnic diversity, Islam, and the formation of new nations. A gold mine of information for reports.
