The laminated hardcover is called a 'Glossie'. The book's cover is clean inside and out. A page before the title page has been removed prior to the title page. I suspect this might have been done to eliminate any inscription or scribbling, which is something I have encountered in the past. As far as I can see, the rest of the book has no marks or damage.## READ ON for more information and interesting facts ## ## The same quality of content and images are black-and-white and halftones, bringing the illustrations up to date, and it looks like a higher resolution of the printing method is also up to date. They feel quality and can stand up to use far better than before.## READ ON for more information ## ## "The Observer's Book of Tropical Fishes" by Neil Wainwright is a comprehensive guide to the fascinating world of tropical fishes. Published by Godfrey Cave Associates Ltd on April 25 1996, this book has become a valuable resource for both beginners and experienced aquarists. The book is a hardcover edition with a print length of 192 pages, with 90 colour illustrations by Baz West. The book is organized alphabetically by common names of the fish, making it easy for readers to find specific species. Each fish is given about a page and a half of comprehensive information on keeping, feeding, temperature, and mixing with other species. One unique feature of this book is the detailed breeding guide for each fish, a feature not commonly found in similar books.## ## The Observer's Books were a series of small, pocket-sized books published by Frederick Warne & Co. in the United Kingdom from 1937 to 2003. They covered various topics, including hobbies, art, history and wildlife. These books aimed to interest the observers and have also been popular amongst children. Some of them have become collector's items. This could be a lifetime's work for the dedicated collector, as there are over 800 variations, some of which are now rare. The values of the books can vary from 50 pence to hundreds of pounds.## ## Until 1969, printed books had dust covers. Each one had a unique pattern of squiggly lines at the top, but these were not especially practical because they were easy to rip and stain. From 1970, the covers received a glossy coating. Books of this type are generally called "Glossies". From the late 1970s, Warne decided to laminate the book to the actual books, making them sturdier and more resistant to wear.## ## The first Observer's Guide was published in 1937 and was on the subject of British birds. A mint copy with a dust cover is worth hundreds of pounds; a British wild-flowers book was produced; a mint copy of this book is worth around £220. More titles were published when this popularity was recognized. 'uniform in the series', but during World War II, productions were limited due to paper and labour shortages.
