The understanding of leadership has changed from being directive towards a people-centred and future-responsive style. Alongside this has been the growing awareness of the impact of emotional intelligence and its centrality in defining exemplary leadership.
There is also a growing recognition of the intense toll on individuals who step up to lead groups within organisations and to lead the organisations themselves. Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Max Coates is Senior Lecturer in leadership at St. Mary's University College, UK, and was a secondary head for twelve years. He has also been Team Programme Manager for the London Centre for Leadership in Learning, working extensively in the areas of leadership, emotional intelligence and mentoring and coaching, both in the UK and internationally.
