The author also analyses their deficiencies and imbalances from the point of view of the developing countries. Bhagirath Lal Das was India's ambassador to the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT), and served as director of international trade programmes at the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
