The aim of this text is to examine the issues of marginality from both a theoretical and various regional perspectives. In doing so it enhances the understanding of spatially bound development processes and issues, and compares human and resource management approaches in different marginal areas of the world. The text also provides the basis for the evolution of strategies and policies resulting in a sustainable socio-economic development.
