Hardcover. Zustand: NF. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: VG++. Photos, Art, Maps, Documents (illustrator). 1st. This fine publication covers"The Beetham and Williams Families, Brancepeth and Te Parae, Wairarapa 1856-1990." and was printed by G P Print for Hugh Beetham and Tom Williams in 1991. The reader is advised early that the name "Wydrop" was coined by early European settlers to the Wairarapa, who found difficulty pronouncing that Maori name. Among these settlers were the Beetham and Williams families, whose close association began when Annie Beetham married Thomas Williams at Hutt Valley late in 1858. The families were to become prominant pioneers of the Wairarapa. David Yerex, a well-known NZ agricultural writer, has woven together the contributions both made to the development and economic progess of the area, building links and influnces that remained strong when he compiled this engrossing story of two families --- innovative, influential who experience many recessions and two world wars. to enter the modern world of farming with the same vigour and determination as their pioneer forebears. First edition of 1991 from G P Print, 198 pages, illustrated throughout with b/w photos, art, maps and documents, e/paper maps. Green hard covers with gilf front/spine titles are NF, ditto the text block, no inscriptions. Pictorial DJ is VG++, with pioneer era sepia photo to front, colour homestead aerial photos to rear panel. Hard cover copies of this book are scarce. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 004651
