After completing his schooling in 1974 he attended the Hull College of Technology, prior to joining Kingston Communications plc (formerly Hull Telephone Department) as a business products faultsman. During a visit to Primrose Valley near Filey in 1987, he noticed the empty camp of Butlin's next door. Happy memories of family holidays spent there came flooding back, and on learning that the camp was to be demolished he set about making a photographic record of the buildings, and collecting information and memorabilia, much of which appear in this book. Paul's own photographs are supplemented by the official camp photographs of the John Hinde Studios in Dublin, which are reproduced here in colour, and which it is hoped will evoke in readers memories of happier times.
