Peter Huchthausen rescued Nguyen Thi Lung during an incident in the Mekong River Delta in 1967. Later in the war, Thi Lung's community would fall under the control of North Vietnam and she would escape from the regime. Years later, with Huchthausen's help, she expatriates to the United States.
