Gerhart Niemeyer, who was born in 1907 in Germany, was for many years a professor of political theory at the University of Notre Dame. He was the author of "An Inquiry into Soviet Mentality, Facts on Communism, the Communist Ideology, Handbook on Communism" (with J.M. Bochenski), "Between Nothingness and Paradise, Deceitful Peace, Aftersight and Foresight", and "Within and Above Ourselves". He died in 1997.
