Untangling the Web contains tutorials, an extensive bibliography of language Web sites with instructions about how to access them for language learning. It also answers basic questions about how the Internet works, teaches surfing and searching techniques, and provides guided practice--all within a language-learning context.

Carl S. Blyth is Assistant Professor of French at the University of Texas at Austin, where he is also the Language Program Director for Lower Division French. Professor Blyth is a popular and dedicated teacher who has won numerous awards and grants. His research interests span the areas of sociolinguistics, French linguistics, and the use and effects of multimedia instruction in the foreign language curriculum. In addition to writing many articles and papers, Professor Blyth has been at the forefront of electronic publishing. He is a co-author of Paralleles Interactive, a CD-ROM for first-year French, and First-Year French@UT-Austin, a pedagogical Web site comprising interactive grammar exercises, WWW activities, a CD-ROM guide, and course resources. First-Year French@UT-Austin was recently awarded First Place in the Innovative Instructional Technology Awards at the University of Texas at Austin.
