Eric Cameron is one of the most important Canadian exponents of conceptual and process art and is best known for a series of conceptual objects known as "Thick Paintings”. Consisting of ordinary objects painted with thousands of layers of gesso, the Thick Paintings change their shapes radically as a result of the chemical processes. Fascinated by the unpredictable and uncontrollable nature of the work, Cameron has written extensively on its philosophical and aesthetic dimensions. This substantial publication provides a thirty year career overview and includes Cameron’s collection of notes which serve as a material and conceptual record of this affinity between labour (work) and art (work). Produced on the occasion of a major exhibition in Paris. In English and French.
