When South African-born Michael Brown began entering what he calls "present moment awareness," he discovered a heightened consciousness that runs parallel to conventional, mundane experience.

In due course, he charted a methodical pathway into present moment awareness. This practical procedure, called The Presence Process, can be used by anyone, anywhere, to initiate an experience of presence.

Now, in his second book, Alchemy of the Heart, Michael leads us on a journey into the feeling center of the heart, whose language is felt-perception. "Nothing is more important that the intent to feel life in all its fullness," Michael explains. "To become present with whatever circumstances are in our life is what separates those who evolve from those who drown self-destructively in unconscious drama."

Michael Brown is the author of the three Namaste Publishing Inc. books: The Presence Process, Alchemy of the Heart and Cat Tales for Mariette. They make up a trinity of his exploration into techniques for emotional integration and growth.

How do we become alchemists of the heart?

The quality of our experiences is a reflection of the condition of our inner being. For our experiences to change, we must make adjustments at the causal point of these experiences. The causal point of all that occurs in our lives is the heart.

To be an alchemist of the heart is to impact the quality of our external experiences by making internal adjustments.

The key to the heart’s alchemical magic is to accept responsibility for the quality of our experiences. When we accept responsibility, we begin to turn the base metal of our unintegrated emotions into the gold of harmonious living. We then realize the peace we seek in the world.
