It presents the basic principles underlying the service life prediction of elastomers in engineering applications and includes a number of case studies. Elastomeric materials are almost ubiquitous in engineering, yet such materials are rarely included in the typical engineering curriculum. The net result is that engineers in industry are often ill prepared for the unique problems associated with designing elastomers. This book aims to redress the balance in the area of life prediction and to inform the reader of the benefits and limitations of established and emerging approaches.
