Structured into three clear parts ― Preparation, Technique, and Training ― this guide gives you the tools to climb more efficiently, reduce effort, and build confidence on the wall and the crag.

What You’ll Learn

  • Preparation: Understand how we learn new movement skills so you get the most from your practice. Learn essential ropework and safety considerations for top-roping, lead climbing, and bouldering.
  • Technique: Follow progressive exercises that develop your footwork, balance, and body positioning. Each drill can be practised at the wall, boulders, or outdoors, helping you move with greater precision and control. Includes tactical and mental strategies to boost your lead climbing performance.
  • Training: Identify your weaknesses and target your training for maximum progress. Includes strength and conditioning exercises, climbing-specific fitness drills, and guidance on training young climbers. The section concludes with the fundamentals of good nutrition for performance and recovery.

Whether you’re an indoor climber looking to break into outdoor grades, or a seasoned mountaineer wanting to refine your movement, How to Climb Harder gives you the knowledge, structure, and motivation to reach your next level.
