This guidebook is written by Deirdre Huston, a South Downs local, keen hill walker and experienced author.

Each route in this guide is described with easy-to-follow directions and details of distance, navigation information, refreshment stops and is plotted on clear and easy to use Ordnance Survey 1:25,000 mapping. Also included is a detailed Appendix.

Deirdre Huston is an author and photographer whose work is inspired by a love of history, literature and the outdoors. She is a graduate of the MA in creative writing at Bath Spa University and also writes fiction. As well as shooting stills photography, she has made films exploring the history of Saddlescombe, a National Trust downland farm. She co-authored Cycling in Sussex, her first guidebook for Vertebrate Publishing, back in 2008 and has gone on to write and photograph Sussex Walks, Cycling Days Out: South East England and Day Walks on the High Weald. Deirdre was born in Crawley on the fringes of the High Weald and now lives beside the South Downs in Sussex with her husband, three children and dog. www.deirdrehuston.co.uk
