Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

I'm Sophia Khalid-Afsar, a primary school teaching assistant from Wales. I live with my husband and my son. You can usually find me wrapped up in a book, spending time with my family, or travelling. My lifelong dream has been to become a children's book author. For a long time I didn't have the confidence to share my stories. This all changed when my son, who is passionate about animals and protecting their environment, came to me one day and told me that sea turtles have really brave hearts and that he was going to be brave, just like them. He told me how sea turtles have to make it to the sea all alone as soon as they hatch, and how they never give up, no matter how hard their journey is. This has really helped my son to be brave in all aspects of his life. This also encouraged me to be brave and has helped bring Toppo's First Adventure to life. If Toppo's story can help just one child to realise that they are brave and should be happy and confident in who they are, then I will have achieved more than I could wish for.
