Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor

Dr Jo Fayram is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and English Language at the Open University and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). She has been responsible for University-wide English for Academic Purposes (EAP) provision and has contributed to the production of an undergraduate EAP module. Her research interests include EAP, Cognitive Linguistics and the role of social presence in online language learning. Dr Samantha Austen is a Senior Lecturer in Applied Linguistics and English Language at the Open University. She has taught languages and trained language teachers both in the UK and abroad. Her research work focuses on the application of linguistic theory to language teaching and learning and in particular the role that first language can play in the acquisition of additional languages. Helen Phillips is a Senior Lecturer in Languages at the Open University and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Having a background in the management of University Language Centres, she was involved in establishing University Institution Wide Language Programmes for Higher Education. Her research activity now centres on the scholarship of distance learning and teaching and the creative delivery of online language learning. She is member of Global Futures Wales.
