Miranda, an ice and rock moon of Uranus, has been a thriving mining colony. But recently there has been a rise in fatal accidents. Kylone has an ability to extrapolate patterns behind a rock face to determine where and how to dig. When his fiancée died in another accident, he blamed himself and his ability; a wreck, no longer able to mine, he became a priest with limited duties in the locally developed Priesthood. Assigned to officiate at a hero miner’s funeral, the widow asks Kylone to investigate the spate of accidents and, along with some help from an unexpected source, he starts to suspect that they may have a more sinister cause, a suspicion which puts his own life in danger.

Rosie Oliver has been in love with science fiction ever since, as a teenager, she discovered a whole bookcase of yellow-covered Gollancz science fiction books in Chesterfield library in central England. It sent her on a world-spinning imaginary journey from the depths of Earth's oceans to multi-verses with varying time speeds, and beyond! After obtaining a degree in mathematics at Oxford University and having a down to Earth career as an aeronautical engineer turned systems engineer, she can now devote her time to gardening, needlework, being a National Federation of Women's Institutes handicraft judge and writing science fiction. She has had around forty of her short stories published (one ended up in the Best of British Science Fiction 2020 anthology) and been a Finalist in the Writers of the Future Contest. Her other varied science fictional activities included obtaining an MA in creative writing from Bath Spa University, being a co-editor of the Distaff anthology and blundering her way into being a minor contributor to a research paper on the northern lights. Recently, she has had her debut novel, Edge of Existence, C.A.T. - the novel, published by TWB Press. Yes, she loves cats, meat or robot AI, but especially the rascally ginger ones. Mrrooowwww!
