The papers in this volume of essays arose out of a lively conversation involving theologians, religuious leaders, biblical scholars, historians, philosophers, ethicists, youth workers, poets and welfare activists in Canberra in 2000. The focal question for the conversation was: what does the naming of God as Trinity mean in the antipodean context of contemporary Australia' On the one hand, this land has been one of the major outposts of European civilisation in the pacific region; on the other hand it has born the legacy of the displacment of an indigenous culture and ecoogical misuse. This is the context within which the authors have written their respective papers. Topics inlcude: the implications of the doctrine of the Trinity for church and society in Australia; the contribution of biblical and historical studies to naming God in an Australian context; and relfections on fundamental questiosn of truth, personhood and memories of black-white relations.

Biografía del autor:

Winifred Wing Han Lamb is a eacher in Canberrs and a Visiting Fellow in Philosophy at the Australian National University, Canberra. Ian Barns is senior Lecturer in Ethics and Technology Policy at Murdoch University, Perth.
