Continuing the story begun with The Children Return. The three Warriors of the Light confront Earth's relentless enemy on the mysterious and previously unknown planet of Ennaris as they search for the fate of the predecessor mission. An alliance must be built from the fractured peoples of Ennaris to confront this evil. The Union fleet battles the Empire fleet in space around the planet. The events of the Prophesy of Halfgar move forward inexorably. Time draws short. Can the Warriors and those Mages who remain draw the Ennarisi together and create a viable force? Can the untested Faero take his place at its head, or will old habits deal a blow to those hopes?
