Labor for Refugees activists, after reading the many submissions to the Expert Panel on Asylum Seekers, were heartened to note that most of them were in accord with the aims of Labor for Refugees. However, when the recommendations of the Expert Panel on Asylum Seekers were announced and the Government issued its own statement as to which of these recommendations it would implement, it was apparent that the submission from Labor for Reugees, plus those of numerous other refugee advocacy groups, had been ignored.
