Teil 1, "The Sporting Scene" besteht aus Stücken über Angeln, Fußball, Golf und Lacrosse – vom Fliegenwerfen für Kettenpickerel im Herbst in New Hampshire bis hin zum Spaziergang durch das Linksland von St. Andrews bei einer Open Championship. Teil 2, genannt "An Album Quilt", ist eine Montage von Fragmenten unterschiedlicher Länge aus Stücken, die im Laufe der Jahre gemacht wurden, die nie in Buchform erschienen sind – gelegentliche Stücke, Gedenkstücke, Reflexionen, Erinnerungen und kurze Artikel in verschiedenen Zeitschriften, einschließlich The New Yorker.
